Tested to international performance standards, its mechanical properties are extremely
reliable and strong enough to withstand severe stress and impact. The design of
the removable lid and shutter is such that no paper or document can be stuffed into
the ballot box after it has been closed and sealed.
The Fortress has three 'lid hasps' and one 'shutter hasp' to ensure maximum security.
The lid hasps and shutter hasp, can be fitted with a number of seals, depending
on their size. This means that both independent and partisan observers at the polling
station may affix their own seal where it is permitted by the electoral law and
has been authorised by the appropriate authorities of that country. This will add
to the security of ballot boxes in transit to counting centres and help to guarantee
the confidence of all participants.

A written audit trail can be incorporated into the design so that the numbers printed
or embossed on the applied seals can be recorded for inspection prior to the seals
being broken. As this audit trail will record the date and time of sealing, you
can therefore identify the name and signature of the person or persons who have
applied the seals. You can also record the date and time when the seals are broken
and the name and signature of the authorised person who breaks the seals. It is
also possible to identify (by names and signatures) the people who apply and break
the seals including any authorised witnesses and the exact dates and times of when
they did so.
