Fortress Papertrail is a totally green recyclable ballot box. Part A is a secure
lid assembly frame which is reusable. Part B is a cardboard box which is the recyclable
part. The lid and postal shutter are secured in the normal way by tamper-evident
seals and a padlock if required.
The components of part A are industrial grade injection mouldings produced from
a highly impact resistant polypropylene. These components will be suited to multiple
use and will have long life characteristics. The components of part B are produced
from Frovi Carry 625um/425gsm moisture repellent cardboard which can be shredded
after the statutory storage period and be recycled along with the ballot papers.
This product is not specific to cardboard, as any other board material with similar
crease, cut & fold characteristics is equally suitable.

Prior to the election, the cardboard box and lid are assembled from their flat pack
state. The lid will be labelled with the necessary identifiers by the electoral
office staff (to facilitate post election retrieval if required) and attached to
the base (double sided tape /Velcro) of the box. The open end of the box is attached
by a locking mechanism (pictured right) to the high security plastic lid and the
cardboard lid is temporarily retained for use later after the ballot papers are
counted.
After the ballot papers have been counted, the cardboard lid is removed from the
base of the box and used to close the box for the statutory storage and recycling
period. The security lid is returned to its storage location for re-use.
