Friday 1 Jan 10

Pakflatt, based in Londonderry, is a specialist in election systems and technology, and employs just 15 people. However, it is being hailed by economic agency Invest Northern Ireland for clinching one of the biggest deals ever signed by any small business in the North West.

Patrick McGonagle, Pakflatt's Managing Director, and Brian Brucker, Diebold's New Business Development Manager signed the agreement today at Invest NI's quarters in Timber Quay, Derry.

Mr McGonagle, commenting on the agreement with Diebold, said: "Signing this agreement, our biggest-ever single deal, and with such an important corporation as Diebold is an immensely important endorsement of the quality and innovation of the products that we design and provide from Derry."

He added: "We look forward to building on this important relationship over the next five years. I am confident that this strategic partnership will be of enormous benefit to us as we seek to grow our business in the US and other global markets through a strong focus on design, innovation and customer-led services."

Welcoming the agreement between the two companies, Invest NI's Ian Murphy said: "Pakflatt is an extremely enterprising company which has invested extensively in new product development and marketing, with assistance from Invest NI over many years.

"It is therefore, an excellent role model to other locally-owned companies of the success that can result from continuous investment in innovation and on developing sales outside Northern Ireland."
