The Franklin® MXB It is the first election kiosk of its kind to integrate with COTS (Commercial off-the Shelf) voting equipment such as tablets, scanner/printer systems. This new innovation will mean that the process of casting a vote, and satisfying the voter that their preferences have been correctly recorded, will need to be delivered by more that one piece of equipment. Different systems will vary in detail but already we are seeing not just a vote casting device but also a printer to produce a receipt or paper copy of the completed ballot and a scanner to create a second electronic record and retain the personally verified ballot in a secure container.

While the Franklin® V/4 voting booth has established itself as the most popular piece of equipment for marking a ballot paper, the Franklin® MXB has been created as the ideal solution for the COTS system when voters will be required to use machines.
